Venezuela Deploys Military to Oil-Rich Guyana’s Border

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the deployment of military personnel to the country's border with Guyana, a move that has raised tensions between the two nations. The dispute between Venezuela and Guyana dates back decades and centers around a long-standing territorial dispute over a region known as the Essequibo. Maduro has accused Guyana of supporting opposition groups in Venezuela and has accused the country's leader, David Granger, of being a "puppet" of foreign powers. Granger, in turn, has dismissed Maduro's claims and has called for a peaceful resolution to the dispute. The United Nations has also called for dialogue between the two nations to resolve the border dispute peacefully.
